Updating health information in the Parent Portal

It's hard to believe the first semester of the 2023-24 school year is already over!  During that time your child may have had a change to his/her health information, emergency contact information, address, etc.  So, we wanted to remind you that you may go into your child's file and make updates.  This would be appropriate if your child has a new diagnosis (like a food allergy, asthma, etc.), or if you have a new address, your child has a new daily medication, etc.  Follow the steps below to update any pertinent information in the Parent Portal.

1. Login to the Parent Portal.

2. Depending on the information you need to update, on the left-side menu, select the appropriate link:

·     Update Emergency Contact Information - allows families to update the emergency contact information and pick-up authorization for each child. Scroll down to click the Submit button to submit the information.

·     Update Health Information - allows families to update insurance and health information for each child. Health information includes over the counter medications, health alerts, allergies, history and current medication. On this page, you can download the authorization for prescription medication/inhaler form.  Scroll down to click the Submit button to submit the information.

·     Update Household Information - allows families to update their household information, such as names for mailing, address and each parent/guardian's information. Scroll down to click the Submit button to submit the information. Please follow the examples underneath the fields on this screen.

·     Update Student Information - allows families to update each child's preferred name and cell phone. Scroll down to click the Submit button to submit the information.

3. You will receive an email after submitting each form.

Keeping this information up-to-date helps us to provide best services to your child and your family.

In this fast-paced world anxiety is becoming the crippling fuel of our children's lives and is often derailing their pathways to success and happiness. In this one-hour session open to the community, Missy Nicholas, LCSW will teach you how anxiety is leading to some of the avoidant behaviors that keep your child from optimal functioning. She will give you practical tools to understand brain development and address your child differently so that you can be a motivation in their momentum to health and wholeness. Whether it is academic performance, self-confidence, general motivation, or relational happiness that you are concerned about, this evening will be beneficial to your parenting game.

From the Nurses

Broken arms, surgeries, and major dental work!! Oh my!!

Life happens and unfortunately that can sometimes mean a broken arm/hand, some kind of lengthy illness, surgery, and/or a host of other things! When those things happen, we want to make sure that we are doing all that is needed to aid in your child’s effective healing and recovery. To that end, please provide a written note from your child’s physician if/when they return to school from getting a cast or brace, having surgery, getting crutches, having major dental work, a trip to the emergency room, etc.

Please ask the physician to note if the child is cleared to return to school AND cleared for all activities. If the physician recommends restrictions or accommodations for the child’s return, please ask that the physician be as detailed as possible with these instructions.

If your child will need prescription medication, please complete (including the physician’s signature) an Authorization for Prescription Medication form and return it with the medication.

If you are unsure if your child needs a physician’s note, please reach out to your school nurses Kathleen Alabbasi or Kimberly Seabolt. We are happy to help!
