Protocol for Illness Updated 3/4/24
Keep your child (or yourself) home if you are ill. Always consult your physician for guidance and consider testing for COVID-19, Flu, RSV, and/or any other illness your physician feels is warranted, especially if there is a known exposure and/or recent travel.
Please also stay home/allow them to stay home until they are able to fully participate in the school day. Students/employees should be fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for at least 24 hours before returning. The same applies for vomiting and/or diarrhea.
CDC’s Respiratory Virus Guidance
Returning to school after any respiratory virus (including COVID-19) or intestinal virus
* If individual had symptoms, then they may return -
* If no fever (100.0 F) for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) AND
* If no vomiting or diarrhea for at least 24 hours AND ther symptoms have improved AND are able to fully participate in the school day.
* It is recommended they/you wear a mask for the next 5 days.
If individual had no symptoms, but has tested positive for COVID-19 it is recommended they/you wear a mask for the next 5 days. If symptoms develop, stay home and refer back to previous guidelines.
Recent close contact with someone who has a respiratory or intestinal virus, quarantine is not required, if there are no symptoms. It is recommended they/you wear a mask for the next 5 days. If symptoms develop, stay home, contact your physician and refer back to guidelines above.
Please stay home and consult your physician for guidance if one or more of the following symptoms -
* Fever (100.0 F) or higher*
* Vomiting
* Diarrhea
* Loss of taste or smell
* New cough
* Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
* Chills
* Body/muscle aches
* Headache
* Sore throat
* Fatigue/malaise
* Congestion or runny nose
* Nausea
(*Your child should be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school, regardless of diagnosis.)
FAQ
My child tested negative for Covid but still has a runny nose. What should I do?
As always, if your child is feeling ill, you should consider keeping them home from school to recover. If there has been recent travel or a known COVID exposure, particularly in the home or from a close friend, consider keeping them home and retesting the following day. Otherwise, If your child has not had fever for 24 hours (without using medication), has not had vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours, is well enough to attend school, can manage their symptoms independently, your child is welcome to attend school. Please continue to watch your child for worsening and/or additional symptoms. (Updated March 2024.)
What should my child do about school work while they are out sick?
If your child is ill, the priority is allowing them time to rest and recover. They will be given time to make up work that is missed. However, if they are able, you, or your child, as appropriate, should reach out to their teachers to inquire about any assignments or work they will miss when out sick at any time.
What do we do if there is more than one person in the home who is COVID positive?
First, test the rest of the household for COVID. If all are negative AND showing no symptoms, they may come to school. We ask that they wear a mask for 5 days at school. If at any time, a household member starts to develop symptoms, please keep them home and retest for COVID. (See guidelines above regarding returning to school.)
We just came back from a trip and have a cough and congestion. Should I test for COVID?
First, if you (or your child) is feeling sick, please stay home. It is a good idea to test for COVID if any symptoms are present, but especially if there has been exposure to COVID and/or recent travel. Then follow the guidelines above regarding when to stay home and how/when to return.

Tulsa Ballet's 'Romeo & Juliet' offers HH discount

This emotionally stunning ballet combines intensity and passion to portray William Shakespeare’s tragic story of two star-crossed lovers. Commissioned by Tulsa Ballet in 2012 to star choreographer Edwaard Liang, Dance Magazine celebrated the production by saying that Liang’s “inventive choreography served the story with flair.” Join us for an evening full of romance, delightful moments of comedy, thrilling sword-fighting and one of literature’s most heart-breaking conclusions.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
MS will view Solar Eclipse together on April 8
Middle School students will experience solar eclipse together on April 8. Please see attached for further view information and the Opt-Out Form.
It's time to pick MS classes for next year
It is time to begin the course selection process for the 2024-2025 academic year. On Monday, March 11, an email was sent to all current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students with a link to a Google Form. This form will lead them through the process of selecting a few courses for the 2024-2025 academic year. All forms are due no later than March 29. Please discuss with your child which courses they will choose. Parent/Advisor conferences are a good time to ask any questions you might have about course choices. However, there are not a lot of choices to be made.
Students will need to complete the course selection forms from his/her Holland Hall google account and we highly encourage students to sit with parents as they complete the form.
Students will all be enrolled in Math (current math teachers will make these placements, more information can be found here), English, Social Studies, Science.
Students will choose:
- World Language: French or Spanish — students will be placed in their language of choice.
- Music: Band, Choir, or Orchestra — course information can be found here.
- Fine Arts Elective: 6th Grade: Art, Drama, or C3 (Create, Connect, Code), 7th Grade: Art, Drama, or Photography, 8th Grade: 2D Art, 3D Art, or Drama — we cannot guarantee first choice placement for electives but we do our best and most students are placed in either their first or second choice, course information can be found here.
- 7th/8th will select PE/Athletics - Fall selections are included on this course selection sheet, Winter/Spring selections will be chosen once the school year begins. More information about Fall offerings can be found here.
We ask that students send a copy of his/her responses to themselves so they have a record of what they selected. If they change their mind after submitting, they need to email Ms. Danner or Ms. White. These course selections are due no later than March 29.

What the PS is doing with the solar eclipse
Students in grades Kindergarten through Third Grade will be viewing the solar eclipse on April 8. Protective glasses will be provided to the students.
